Cakes and buns don't just have cocolate, sugar and fruit in them, they can also contain high value ingredienst such as alcohol. They can have drinks such as sloe gin, champagne and flavoured liqueurs in them. These ingredients are expensiv, and when mishandled,  can break and leak all over the floor. Health and saefty risks such slipping and contamination can result. Our customer wanted to uprate his prevoius drinks store from a simple bay of racking with chipboard shelves and mesh door to a more user-frendly store closer to the production process, stored in a more robust, secure and spill-resistant rack.  Bottles could now be handled by hand, decanted close to a sink, and put in non-breakable plastic and metal containers ready for the food mixing process.

The tubular spill containment shelving has individual spill trays/drip trays on tubular shelves that can be taken off individually and cleaned. Any breakage is contained on that shelf and does not leak thru to other levels. Each 1000 x 800 shelf can safety hold 230kg UDL wieghts, with a maximum of 1500kg per bay. Other shelves such as 300, 400, 500, 600, 700 deep are availabe. The tubular shelves are adjustable to accept different size bottles and spaced off the ground to allow easy cleaning.  All racks are fixed back to the wall so shelving could not tip over.

To make the bottles secure,  a purpose built cage was made to enclose the racks all round complete with a mesh roof. This cage was secured back to the wall and floor with hidden fixings that can not be undone from the outside. Mesh doors were fitted to individually pad-lock each shelving bay. The cage was offset in front of the racks, to allow space if the shelves needed to be adjusted for future use.

The shelving and cage are in a powder coated paint finish that looks smart and is wipeable for cleaning. This is a good example of using a standard shelving product and a bespoke mesh cage to solve a practical problem, a solution that could be used for a multple of safe store applications.
